public sound art installations
site specific events

An exhibition including commissions for three artists who will create spatial public art sound installations for a mini-festival in Leicester including a one-day symposium. Public art sound installations have a proven track record of introducing a significant number of inexperienced listeners/viewers to innovative sound organisation as it does not involve the traditional concert practice. It is one of the most accessible forms of innovative sound organisation in today’s world.

The installations will be placed in public places, such as a shopping mall where a broad cross-section of society is present.

Although it is a known fact that sound installations are often accessible to a broad public, this activity is intended to bring together a cultural initiative along with action research audience data and the symposium’s knowledge to underline the Interfaces vision that forms of new music are indeed accessible.
