site specific events

In a time when the rituals, venues, categories and settings of music, art and performance are emptied out, is there a way to think again about the possibilities of how we engage with actions and ideas? What is the presence of a place?

The locations project involves unconventional performances aiming to establish new codes of listening and performing. Artists together with a video-artist, will explore different in- and outdoor locations in Brussels where they will make short musical improv-interventions. The first part of the locations project took place on March 2017 featuring Romy Rüegger and Deena Abdelwahed. They performed live presenting personal approaches of the political as the personal, or the personal in a political sense. This concert was part of the Performatik Festival.

The second part of the locations project took place in the framework of the Oscillation Festival: On Sound's Nature in 2019. In this edition of the locations project, the visual and sound artists Rie Nakajima, Aki Onda, Akio Suzuki and David Toop, presented a durational performance hovering in the liminal space between installation and concert. Through complex and diverse uses of objects, instruments and the performing bodies, the installation reoriented the audience members' experiences of space and time.
